Jim Barry Wines is a family-owned winery located in the Clare Valley of South Australia. It was founded in 1959 by Jim and Nancy Barry. Today, the business has over 200 hectares of vineyards across 10 locations in Clare and a 15-hectare vineyard in Coonawarra. The Lodge Hill vineyard on the eastern ranges of the Clare Valley has soils rich in clay over ancient slate. The cracks between the slate are filled with soil, providing passage for the vine roots and free drainage.
This wine is named after the Penola cricket ground, which was located on the same site where Jim Barry now grows this premium Cabernet, which is blended with small amounts from the family's Clare Valley estate and then aged in French and American oak barrels.
