An anthology of Greek short stories from the 20th century is, by its nature, a comprehensive endeavor. It must reflect, through established forms, both the adventures of writing and language, as well as the country that produced the selected short story writers.
Just as essential as the cornerstone creators in an anthology are the lesser-known creators, the authors we refer to spontaneously, almost without thought. Similarly, the anthology is enriched by those writers who capture 'moments' and 'images' that are humble and seemingly insignificant, often escaping the torrent of situations that highlight the major figures.
In both cases, we are talking about short story writers whose place in the history of literature has already been secured. Because an anthology that aspires to encompass a century cannot refer to experimental, exploratory trends, but only to what has already been sanctioned by time and memory.
